I want to get a tea cup poodle ( the smallest poodle there is). I have researched about them alot, and i do realise they are very fragile as they cant jump on and off furniture or climb up or down stairs. However, i wanted to know more, about what to do while they have to be left in the house alone ? Apprantely you have to put them in playpens :S How would i allow it to have space, without it being dangerous ? Please help me !!!!

  1. don't step on it

  2. how about you just don't. They are fragile because they are undersized and improperly bred. The smallest accepted size of poodle is the toy. Explain to me why you need a dog smaller than that?

If you had researched them you know they come from puppymills and bad breeders out to make a buck and take advantage of people.

    from the breed club themselves

"Teacup" or "Pocket" Poodles and "Royal Standard" Poodles

Responsible Poodle Breeders do not promote the sale of "teacup", "pocket" or "royal standard" Poodles. This is a marketing ploy to sell the pups for increased prices. Prospective Poodle owners interested in a small toy poodle or a large standard poodle can make their preferences known to their breeder. Most responsible breeders are familiar enough with their family of dogs to provide information about size and other attributes.

  3. I wish I had a a poodle.

  4. Teacup - unhealthy, bred from runts, walking vet bill, bred by irresponsible 'breeders'.

With such a dog fragility should be just one of your worries.

If you like Poodles why not just get a healthy, Toy Poodle from a reputable breeder?

  5. I wouldn't underestimate the dog, my sis has a really small dog and a bulldog and their fine with each other, you can put them in a playpen if you want to train them

  6. FYI, in this instance 'fragile' means 'sickly and defective.'  There is no such thing as a 'teacup' Poodle (or any other breed).  It's a BS term used by unscrupulous breeder to get more money for inferior dogs from gullible people such as yourself.

If you must leave it alone, start with a crate which is well padded and about twice the size of the dog.  Eventually you will find out what objects she can or can't effectively climb onto - until then, watch her carefully to prevent mishaps.

  7. Don't get a teacup anything. They tend to be form BYBs and have terrible health problems. Get a toy poodle and you don't need to keep them in play pens. Just confine them to a safe area until they are house trained.

  8. You will need a lot of care and A LOT of money.  The dog will most likely be unhealthy because it is a teacup dog, so be prepared to be seeing a lot of your vet

  9. dont forget to get her groomed every 2 months.

  10. there is no such thing as a "teacup" anything. buying any dog with that label is just asking for trouble, heart ache and large, endless vet bills.

  11. Put it in a room that is fenced off from the rest.

Make sure it's a room that doesn't have anything hazardous to it's health.

  12. apparently, you didn't read the part where it says there is no such thing as a teacup poodle. the smallest poodle there is is a toy poodle.

EDIT: if you check the AKC website, it will tell you the three accepted sizes of poodles. in the non-sporting group, it's the standard size and the miniature size poodle. in the toy group, it is, well, the toy poodle. Standard: over 15 inches tall at the shoulder; Miniature: over 10 but under 15 inches; Toy: 10 inches or under.

  13. These so called "teacup" poodles are just badly bred poodles. If you do happen to find a teacup "breeder", all they do is produce these tiny sickly dogs and all they want is your money, and a lot too!

THere is a reason why they aren't supposed to be this small! Don't support this business!
