How to care for my surprise fish!?

So, I went to a local pet-store today to get a friend for my beta, and I bought what was labeled as a "trilineatus corydora." I wasn't too sure that was what it was, but the shop owner assured me it was the right fish.

I had never been here before, I have a saltwater dealer, but my friend raved about him and I've tentatively branched into freshwater- so why not add another dealer to my A-list?

It looked nice enough- no dead fish floating around, clean establishment, clean tanks, etc...

However, after I acclimated my new 'corydora' I did a little digging, and no I didn't buy a corydora- I bought a fish I have never even heard of before!

How do I take care of a Striped Raphael catfish? Which looks NOTHING like the fish I wanted! It's in a 10 gallon tank right now, with a nice little filter, airstones, some plastic plants, and a rock/cave thing. I'd just return the thing, but I won't have time for about four days and my beta tolerates him, so maybe I'll keep it.

  1. Your fish will get around 8 inches long. It is a bottom dweller that should be kept with larger community fish. It eats algae, bloodworms, and regular tropical fish food.

  2. i think that U were had...

but they are not 'bad' fish.

here are directions for 3-lined cory:

please NOTE that these fish have *never* been bred in captivity accdg to Wiki, and all specimens are wild-caught as a result - which makes this an un-ethical aquarium species, in my books.

    (sorry, but true!   :-(

hope s/he does well for U...

  3. Catfish does not need any special attention. You can feed it pellets or normal fish food. As Catfish are normally bottom feeders, it's best to feed it pellets or cucumber.

    Good luck on that :)
