  1. Poms are toy type dogs, meaning that is how they are classified. There are sporting dogs, herding dogs, etc. and then there are toys. Teacups are not real dogs.

There are some really screwed up people that know people will buy ANYTHING with a fancy name, so what they do is say it's a 'teacup' and try to reel in the buyers.

Some are even MORE screwed up, and they actually go far enough to breed runts of the litter with other runts of the litter, so they can say they have the smallest dogs ever. And they end up calling them 'teacups' because of their size. It's really unhealthy to breed dogs like this though, so don't buy from people who advertise their dogs as teacups!

I hope that helped you understand it a little more, and good luck with your new pup!

  2. Pomeranians are Pomeranians..... There is NO "toy" or "Teacup" poms. If the breeder claims otherwise, they are scamming you. Don't ever buy anything labeled a "teacup."

Ask your vet for feeding advice, and ask your groomer on teeth, nail, and coat advice. Make sure you get all the info before buying!

  3. be prepared for 10+ years of commitment and expense, a dog needs full time care, training and exercise. If this is a genuine pedigree puppy I cannot see anyone giving it away, friend or not, be careful you are not getting a problem dog!

  4. toy/teacup pomeranians are owned by imcompetent people... b/c they are fiscally retarded as the initial cost of the dog is extremely outrageous , and of course let's not forget the eventual inevitable vet bills that will soon follow plus the heart ache... do your research BEFORE you get the dog.

  5. ..unless you are adopting from a shelter do not get this puppy. Poms come in ONE size. One size fits all

The average weight of the Pomeranian is from 3 to 7 pounds, with the ideal weight for the show specimen being 4 to 6 pounds.

Anyone selling a teacup or toy Pom is running a scam. You will either end up with a normal sized animal or one with so many medical problems.

http://www.mbfonline.com/pomhealth/ everything here is further exacerbated by shrinking the dog down for the sake of profit.

  6. I think you are very wise to ask for advice on your first puppy. Go to Petsmart and get a good puppy food for small breeds, not Purina. There are some good brands such as Iams, Nutro, Science diet. Since he is so small, make sure you mix the dry feed with water so it isn't so hard for him to chew. Poms are small dogs, so it won;t weigh over seven pounds when it is fully grown. Get him a small bed to lay in and a food bowl and a water bowl. Make sure you take him to the vet so he can look him over and start his shots. It is a series of shots to protect him from diseases, so make sure you follow your vets advice. And BTW, he sure is a cutie pie. Good Luck with him
