How to cast rock with metal?

im trying to make a pice of art from metal i need to cast a pice of rock dont know how to do it please help thank you mike.

  1. Tigris above explained the lost wax method for casting the object into metal and is best way to reproduce an object.

    However if your aim is two combine two different mediums rock and metal together due different contraction, cooling and   the like your path fraught with perils.


  2. Depending on the shape of your rock you can do sand casting. Or you can make a mold, make a copy of your rock in wax, sprue and invest your wax sculpture, burn out, cast metal.

    You only should do this if you have use of and familiarity with the facilities needed. Otherwise you need to take a metal casting class. It's nothing you can learn in 5 mins. And ideally you have a burnout kiln and a foundry. Though it does depend on the size of your rock. If it's just a pebble you might get by with melting the metal with a propane torch. But you still should know what you are doing, otherwise you are going to endanger yourself and others.
