Question:

How to catch a mouse the cat brought in?

Cat brings mouse in through doggie door, deposits in my bathroom. I try to capture it for 30 mins. I am in jammies, heart pounding, wearing rubber goves and trying to get it into a pillowcase, and the mouse is running all over my feet. I am very sorry and ashamed to say that I had to put my dog in the room with it and she dispatched it quickly and cleanly. This is not what I had in mind, but my roomie said she'd be awake all night if the mouse was there. I don't want to do that again--this is not my nature. Does anyone know if there any sprays that will calm it down long enough to scoop it up and send it on its way?

  1. If this problem occurs regularly, you should invest in a no-kill trap.  If you don't feel like paying, there are several online "no-kill traps" that you can create with regular household objects.

    Good luck!

  2. put a small dish of peanut butter on the floor near u and it'll come on it's own, then catch it by the tail. taht's what i've had to do

  3. you could buy a humane trap so you could bait the mouse inside of the cage and release it if the incident happens again.

  4. I don't know about sprays.  Your best bet is to get a live trap, put some peanut butter in it, and wait until the mouse goes in.  Once the mouse is trapped, you can take it to a field away from your home and release it.  You can find live traps at most hardware stores.

I also found this strange site online.  She used a toilet paper tube, some peanut butter and a trash can to catch the mouse.

I know it sucks to have it running around until it gets trapped, but it's better and more humane than having your dog kill it.

    Hope that helps!
