How to catch catfish in a small pond?

i have a quarter acre pond and there is one catfish in it and iwanna catch it> i have tried alot of things and ive been trying for a year.i no the cat is in there because we put it in a year ago and it was big when we put it in(11 pounds 21inches)so that tells you that nothing ate it.how can i catch this thing?ill take any tipps that you have

  1. You can try limb lines. Keep in mind that just because it was alive when you put it in there, that doesn't mean it's still alive. An awful lot of fish transfered die in a day or two from stress. It could have looked & acted fine when you turned it loose but still died in a couple of days. If it's still there, limb lines or a trotline would be your best bet.


  2. Your second answer got part of it about the possibly of a dead catfish. If you live in an area where the pond can freeze that could kill it because the lack of food during that time. If you want to increase the chances of catching it if it is alive chum an area with dogfood for a few days. Then do the same while you fish.Be sure to use a good fishing rod and reel with fresh line and good knots.

  3. Try to noodle it out!

    Or just keep trying baits on the bottom. Also stock it with more cats.
