Deep timbered holes ,river or lake early, early morning.

late late evening fish the flats just ahead of the timbered holes.or at night thats when the big boys come out.

First of all start your own private secret honey hole .

one gal. dried dog food don`t matter the brand.

mix to this fish oil from 2 dozen fish oil capsals or two table spoons codliver oil+3 cups water let stand over 12 hr. period.

12 hours prior to fishing broad cast over deep timbered area you want to fish.use med. size chunks of fish like suckers ,shad,bullhead,etc.

use liver of beef ,pork, or chicken in that order of preferance.

catfish live in the deep water, they live in small holes in the lake bottom, ive caught some of my best catfish when i was  kid at night, also late evenings work well, you need to fish down deep for them, as for bait check out your other question.

if you are fishing a small pond then you don't need much knowledge of where. if you are going to be fishing a big lake then you can do one fo two things.

1 stop at a local bait shop and ask the guys behind the counter or other fishermen whats spots have been active and what times of day.

2 pick up a topographical map of your lake and locate spots with deep water or channels that may lead into a cove or bay of the lake. Spring time is about the only time you can catch them shallow and still, we're talking 10 feet deep or more. Shallower usually means smaller fish.

you need nothing more than nightcrawlers to catch them
