Question:

How to catch largemouth bass?

The lake I am fishing on is fairly small and the water is crystal clear. I am looking for good lures to use in this situation. I like floating lures such as the Jitterbug and The Hulapopper and I have found both to work O.K. but not great. I was wondering what lures would be good to use and also how to use them, by that I mean where to use and how deep to use them in and what kind of motion to give them while casting and reeling. Another great thing would be which colors to use in a very very clear lake. Also I am open to any kind of lure not just floating. Thank you so much for your help

  1. I would use a black and red twist tail power bait worm with a weighted jig and drag along the bottom

  2. well if I knew if you were boat fishing or line siding I could certainly give you information worthy of writing down, I hate guessing wrong.

I would down grade my line to six pound test for sure for all verticle (up and down) fishing and I would use brownish (earthtone) colorsr in the shallows and blue, purple and in between colors in the deep. I would use 10 - 12 pound test on a pitching stick with a bait caster also you should go with medium size to large baits as well and I would barely move all plastics on the bottom and high speed retreive all crank and spinnerbaits crank baits are earthtones and spinners the same. Use burnt orange color skirts on jigs and spinner baits they will look like a crawdad. If you are fishing from shore stay more than fifteen feet from the edge (side),the fish will see you and move away from the edge.

  3. Try using spinners, that is what i catch the most bass with.  As for the color all depends on the day and lake.  My best advice would be to buy a bunch of cheap ones and find what color is working.  For top baits try using a frog.  This Stanley frog lure was absolutely killing the bass in the WI lake I fished in last weekend.  http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores...
