If you are using windows xp, it does not support DVD burning (without the use of a 3rd party program).  If you are willing to spend some cash, I would recommend Nero.  If you are looking for a cheaper alternative (free :) ) I would suggest one of these listed on this website :

Replace the CD-R/DVD combo drive in your computer with a DVD+/-R drive.  Or buy an external DVD +/- R USB drive.  Then install your favorite burning application of choice.  Insert blank DVD into drive, and burn the data you wish to store to the DVD.
