How to change Dynamic IP address?

I tried some techniques they are talking on the net and still it didn't change anything.. I tried turning everything off over night for 12 hours and it didn't do anything. I still have the same IP address..I have D-link router and modem.

  1. Which IP are you trying to change. The one on your computer comes from your ROUTER.. changing it does nothing other than change it ....  the WAN (internet IP) comes from your ISP.  In many cases the only way to get a new IP from your ISP is to leave your modem off until the "lease" they use expires. That could be as much as a week!  Many are set to 24 - 48 hours so you need to call them and ask them how long the lease period on their routers runs then leave your MODEM off for that period of time!  OR have your ISP change your IP (they will want to know why in some cases).


  2. Start > Run > cmd > ipconfig /renew

    In terms of the routers actual IP address however which is show to the outside world that usually expires once ever couple of weeks depending on what your internet company has set for the lease times of IP addresses.
