  2. Remove wheel from bike.  Remove tire from rim using tire levers designed for bikes (not a screwdriver as this may damage the rim or replacement tube).  Remove tube from tire.  Patch or replace tube with new one.  Replace tire if worn out.  If keeping tire feel the inside for thorns or other puncture culprits.  Check rim tape for tears.  Line the tire's inside with baby powder.  This will prevent stiction between the tube and tire.  Inflate tube with just enough air to give it shape and insert it in the tire with the valve stem at the tire's label.  Insert the valve stem in the valve hole with the label on the wheel's drive side.  Mount the inside half of the tire on the rim.  Starting at the valve, mount the outside half of the tire using the tire lever, making sure the entire bead sits inside the rim.  Inflate to about 20 pounds and make sure the bead is still seated properly;  if any part of the tube is sticking out, you've got a problem.  If so, deflate and reseat the tire.   If all looks good, inflate the rest of the way: bmx about 30-35 lbs, mtb 35-50lbs, road bike 90-120 lbs.
