  1. If you know about plumbing turn off the water at the mains,

disconnect the stop **** then replace with the new one not sure but may need to solder it so my advise get a plumber in.

    c

  2. even if you own the property you are not allowed to, which is lucky because the full line needs to be turned off to do this

    regards x kitti x

  3. Where is it? In the street or in your house?

If its in the street , call the council.

If its in the house , check in the street , you Will see a small metal trap door about six inches square , you will need a long tool to turn it off. Then you can change the one in the house without flooding the place.

Check to see if you have turned the right one off first .

Not the next door neighbour !!!

  4. inj the uk

the one in the street is the local water authority's responsibility to change if it sdefective

in your house its you, check the size you need and buy a new one, turn off the street one, undo nuts on existing, put in new.

    this works most times

if the stret one is passing water it will continue to come out when you undo the one in the house

  5. Well its easy if you got all the tools. You don't say weather it is on copper pipe or galvanized pipe or in the street or home if its in the street you get the water company out not the council if you live in rented accommodation get the land lord to do it if it is your incoming main stopcock. You also don't say what type stopcock inline solider type, compression type  or iron type. So i am unable to tell you what to do with out the full info.
