How to change my SSID for my linksys router?

i have a linksys router that has no security and i would like to secure it, like all routers you have to go to mi ip adress but nuthin is ther , nothin shows up on my (191.168.1.1) how do i change it. Does it have to do with a cd or anything. Any info will work thx

  1. ok you maybe changed your ip address of router so you need to know it by going to  start then run the type in the box:   cmd

    then you will see command prompt black screen type this command :   ipconfig  

    then under default gateway you will see ip address, this is the ip address for wireless router

    go to your brwoser

    then put this ip address

    then put in password field : admin

    leave username blank

    * if it's the default password

    then go wireless then you can see ssid after that you can change it then press save settings

    but you don't need to change ssid for secuirty you need to set key

  2. try 192.168.1.1

    from there go to the wireless setting and everything else should be self explanatory
