  1. I had a corn snake that ate only live, if the pet store was out I'd buy frozen, the only way I could get her to eat was to dangle it by the tail so it was "moving" and then she'd strike it and coil it and eat it.

you could try dangling the mouse less and less as the feedings progress.

I understand why frozen is better, for striking and ease of on hand food...go to the store vs go to my freezer,

however back when there wasn't frozen, I never had any problem with any of my snakes striking at me.

  2. If he gets hungry he will eat the frozen. You are thawing them to room temp first aren't you?

  3. I'm glad that you're choosing to convert to frozen-thawed, and I'm happy to see you've gotten good advice already - Usually theres some idiot who says no snake will eat food that's not moving.

Anyways, check out this article, it is by far the BEST article I've found on feeding frozen mice/rats and how to convert. I highly recommend it:

  4. First you need some long feeding tongs. When the rat or mouse is thawed out then get the rat by the tail with the tongs and wiggle it. I feed my snakes both live and frozen. If you just think it would be easier on you then go with the frozen. If it's just the snake you are worried about, then try "bopped" rats instead of frozen. You take the rat and a good sized spoon and bop it in the head. This stuns the rats and they won't bite. I hope this helps.

  5. Well my brother would feed his snake in the bathtub so it wouldn't eat any substrate, and also he would know when he was going to eat. But if you do something like that for a couple of weeks, right when you throw the food in, dead or alive, he'll attack it and eat it.
