  1. The bottom line is, _where_ are you going to be doing the pet-sitting? If at your parents' home, obviously that's not going to fly. If somewhere else, ask your parents (seriously, quietly - no yelling!!!) why they object. LISTEN as they explain what their concerns are. Go think about what you can to do mitigate those concerns.

If you can't get them to go for the whole pet-sitting thing, how about starting small - maybe dog-walking to start with? Show them you can be responsible - make sure you do your regular chores, etc. without having to be reminded, make sure your grades don't get affected, still take time to hang out with your friends and your parents, spend your earnings wisely (no buying everything that takes your fancy THIS minute), etc.

Maintain the routine for a few weeks or months, then ask again about the pet-sitting _if_ the dog-walking is going well.

If that doesn't work, maybe you _will_ have to wait until you move out - after all, their home, their rules, is pretty much what it boils down to! And if you are a minor, then they don't _have_ to let you do anything.

    Hope that helps,
