Question:

How to change the default PC case/chassis color?

Say that you have a PC, but you can't stand the case/chassis color it came with and want to have it changed. What are viable options for doing this? For example, can you have it re-painted, and if so, is there a special kind of paint you need?

Or is it possible to buy a new chassis that has the color you want, and just move all the internal components to the new case? If this route, how do you know if the old and new cases are compatible?

  1. PC cases have very little do with your actually computer.  When you buy a new case you will just get a combination of metal and plastic with some electrical connections, sometimes external sound and usb.  Some do not even have power supplies.  Cases can be expensive though depending on the make and model.  You could paint your case if you wanted to using the correct types of paint for the metal and plastic but when all is said and done, does it REALLY matter what color it is. after all, when you are on the computer you should be looking at the screen and if you are really bothered by it just put it in a cupboard.

  2. you could do either. if you plan to paint it you can do it cheaply with enamel spray paint, but don't expect it to look professional since the paint may not come out evenly. you want to do it in multiple coats and let it dry for about 8hrs between coats.

motherboards are base on standards. most ATX mobos will house mini-atx and somtimes ITX. so you'll be safe with getting a new box. one thing that could be a problem is if the new case has it's motherboard tray too close to the drives. i've seen broken dimm slots because dvd drives have pushed up against the memory.

  3. In my opinion it would be best to get a new pc case. Trust me you will get something much better than a repaint. For example if you have a default chassis like hp compaq or acer then things in your pc are really warm. With a new case you can more air flow. Also if you take it to the a place and tell them you want it repainted im pretty sure they are going to charge as much money where you can get a new case.

Get the case in the link above i have that case and it is really awesome! Amazing case and very good price too 5 colors too.

Ok now about moving things to a new case that is very simple everything will be compatible with that case trust me. And with the tooless  design to install drives it the bays and card slots its very very easy.

hopes this helps and good luck :)
