I have a Canon Powershot SD1000 Digi cam.

If i record a video for about 15 mins the memory consumed is around 1 GB.

So tell me how can i reduce the video setings.

  1. more video data compression = reduced video quality.

For a frame of reference, standard definition video DV uses about 14 gig of hard drive space per hour of video captured on a miniDV tape. 1080i high definition HDV uses about 44 gig of hard drive space per hour of HDV. This is the least compressed and provides best available video quality - and is stored on a single miniDV tape.

When you shoot such compressed video as your camera captures, the high quality is actually not *that* bad, but if you use the high compression setting, it will look ok on the camera's little 2 inch screen, but when you fill a TV screen or computer monitor, it will look terrible.

I have that same camera. It takes great stills - but for video I use a Sony HDR-HC1 or HDR-FX1...

  2. touch menu (your canon is onto record) , touch arrow with FRAME RATE: 15 frm/s . good luck!
