Trying to bid a job on a retaining wall. The wall will be 30 feet long. The highest place in the wall is 8 bricks tall and it slopes off to be only 2 bricks tall. I figured there will be 60 bricks in the top 2 rows. I just need help on how to charge for something like this. It will be the standard keystone bricks from home depot.

  1. charge for materials + time.  they pay for all materials, including backfill, reinforcing mesh, etc and you can charge something reasonable for you time invested. what is the going rate for contract labor in your area? min wage? $8/hr?

If it is for a friend, i would charge less. also, give them a time and money estimate up front.

make sure you do a good job and install it right so it doesn't fall over!

  2. Just consider how long it will take you to prepare the base (dirt), get the bricks, how long it will take you to stack as needed. Only you know how fast or slow you work and for what amount you require for your time. Do you have the proper tools required to make the 1st run level? How much digging will be necessary? You must know the total of bricks required. How and where will you get the back fill material?

    Not enough information supplied.
