The instructions on the front of the battery have been scratched off. I can't figure how to get the battery out, or even if I need to.

  1. If you can see the terminals on the battery you should be able to clip on to those terminals with a charger. Red to Red and Black to Black. Plug the charger into the wall as your last step. Avoid looking straight down at a battery when attempting to connect chargers. You should wear some safety glasses, just in case. They can blow up but it's rare. Remember Red to Red and Black to Black.

Red is positive and Black is negative.

You don't need a special charger per say. An automatic transformer trickle type that has clip connectors will work just fine. I wouldn't use a big charger. I recommend a auto charger less than 1 amp but no more than 2 amp. I have one for my Harley and one for my tractor. They work very well. You can hard wire them on the battery with a short harness and that makes the charger safe and very easy to plug in when needed. I have mine set up that way.

Mine are very much like this one. It comes with everything you need to hard wire it to your mower battery.

  2. No it isn't recommended taking the battery out or trying to charge it without having the proper charger. You need the charger that plugs into the mower and home. If you don't have it than you need to get the model and serial #s off the mower(usually located on the back) You may have to remove the bag to see it. Depending on those #'s the charger will run anywhere from 18-45 dollars.
