How to check BIOS on computer?

How exactly do you make sure that the BIOS on your computer is the most current available? thanks!

If you see the POST page, when your computer boots, the current bios version on your computer is usually listed at the bottom of that screen.

You can then go to the manufacturer's web site [either computer or motherboard (if you have a custom built computer)]. The most current bios version will be shown there.

You will also note that most manufacturers tell you NOT to update the bios unless the new one solves a problem you are having with your computer.

As the computer boots one of the first screens you see will have the bios version on it. If it's a dell something like A02. Then you need to go to your computer's manufactuers website and check what the latest bios available is.

Go into your bios-usually by pressing Del on start up. Check the version, which should be somewhere in the title area.

Then go to the manufacturer's website and verify if it is the most recent version.

If not, you will need to flash the BIOS using the directions the manufacturer gives.
