How to check if a graphics card will work with your computer?

im upgrading my computers graphics card from a radeon 9200 to a nvidia 6800 but i need to know if a nvidia 6800 will work with my computer how can i find out?

i have windows xp installed

  1. First off, open up ur PC and make sure ur motherboard has that port. It probably does since u got the Radeon. But check with the product's website - Nividia has a good list for compatibility I think

    U can also check ur PC's site, but won't be very good


  2. Upon booth up on screen, upon turning on the monitor will give you a white light reflection on screen.

    Make sure your graphic card is properly inserted, Wait on the black screen post beep it will appear on your screen if its capacity of your video card installed.

    From ther also you may be able to find out if your video is compatible on your unit. Sometimes this will give you series of beeps.

    Count them it has its corresponding meaing or codes.

    Take note if you had no sceens completely black, your graphic card is not working on your unit.
