How to check valves gap in mitsubishi lancer?

work was done on my car, I suspect the valves gap is not Ok, how canI check it?

  1. You need a non abrasive gap tool, and check it. Ask the place where you bough your spark plugs the recommended gap for the particular spark plugs you bought. If you buy iridium type you need to pay careful attention as they require a slight variation than others, but this variation in gap size is provided by the manufacturer for you for most including Mitsubishi's might not change too much or anything at all but always ask.


  2. Well, you essentially need to go through everything it took to set them in the first place. You are essentially doing the job over.

  3. take off the top pan

    move the crank around until the marks line up, take the distributor cap off and see if the marks lineup  with #1

    Take a feeler gage and check the clearance.(cold)

    Find out the next spark plug to fire, move the crank around and check it out.  If you find a valve too tight loosen it, but don't go crazy, just a little bit and make sure its tight, run it and if its still not right, go back and loosen a little more and repeat the process.
