Am I supposed to look at the volts or watts to make sure I get a powerful enough hoover to use for the carpets and the car? How come some expensive ones have the value of volts very low compared to the cheap ones? That's what confused me.

  1. I've had several over the years and can only recommend the Dyson handheld.  It's the only one that works and carries on working.

  2. It is not just about theoretical power, its all about suction volume. only really satisfactory ones i have found are Dyson and possibly the Oreck (that that would be more car orientated).

  3. I like the rechargeable hand held, but the black and decker hand held I had only lasted a year, seems as soon as they're out of warranty they break down...haha.

Looking for a replacement myself, won't get a black and decker and I'm still upset with dyson for all the Uk jobs lost when they closed down a plant in the UK. I did have a dyson vacuum cleaner when they first came out, didn't last 3 years.

If I find a good one that lasts, I'll let you know.
