I'm a severe overpronator

I do a lot of speedwork but also run distance

I run about 20 miles a week

Also my knees have been hurting a lot when i run. i think it might be due to my shoe not giving me enough support. what do you think? i know it's not weakness in my quad b/c i train them and I run mostly on grass and pavement.

  1. stores: Athletes Foot, Snail's Pace, Runner's High

the type of running shoe you need depends on your feet. if you underpronate or overpronate, then you need stability shoes. if your feet have low or high arches, then you need support shoes. Saucony and brooks have good shoes. the brooks adrenalines are excellent.

to figure out if you overpronate, ask someone watch you run. if your feet touch the ground with the outside of the foot first, then you overpronate. if the inside of your foot touches the ground first then you underpronate.

for the arch, wet the bottom of your feet and step on concrete. if your print shows a thin section in the middle, then you have high arches. if theres a large section in the middle, then you have low arches.

    hope that helps

  2. You should go to a store that specializes in running. Brand-wise, Saucony or Brooks probably has something you're looking for (Saucony's Pro-Grid Paramount is generally a good one).

Also, you should consider finding suitable racing shoes.

Saucony's Endorphin MD is what I use, as well as most of the other mid-distance runners on my team.

  3. i reccomend you go to a The Athlete's Foot store...they have excellent deals (especially for high school athletes) and they also have this really cool machine that analyze's your foot step and then the store rep can reccomend the best pair of shoes for you
