It is filthy, but I don't want to scratch it though. It gets very dirty very quickly - I can't understand how! Also, the glass lid which is always up against the wall, how best to clean that?

Thanks!

  1. Things You’ll Need:

    Commercial ceramic stovetop cleaner

    Paper towels

    Soft cloth

    Razor scraper

    Step1

Clean the stovetop after each use with a commercial ceramic cooktop cleaner. Allow the cooktop to cool completely and spread with a thin layer of cleaner. Rub vigorously with a paper towel. Change to a clean towel as one becomes soiled. When residue is gone polish with a dry soft cloth.

    Step2

Remove spillovers as soon as top is cool enough. For burned on areas use a razor blade scraper designed specifically for this purpose. Hold the blade at a 45-degree angle to avoid scratching and slide gently over the surface. Apply a layer of cleanser and rub with a paper towel to remove remaining stain.

    Step3

Polish away any discoloration left from aluminum or copper pans that are allowed to boil dry before using the stovetop again. Re-heating with these stains intact may cause permanent damage.

    Step4

Check the bottom of pots and pans periodically for nicks and gouges. These can cause marks on the ceramic. Remove the marks as soon as possible for best results.

    Tips :

Note that cleaning the cooktop often is the key to success. The more the residue accumulates the harder it is to remove.

Keep plastic away from a hot stovetop. It melts, then hardens and usually cannot be removed at which point the top has to be replaced.

Don't slide pots and pans across the cooktop surface. This causes scratches that can't always be removed by polishing.

  2. I've used Grease Lightning on ceramic figurines and glass before.  Just spray it on, let it sit for a few minutes and rinse with water.  I didn't have to scrub them or anything but if you do just use a soft cloth.

  3. Try some simple green or 409.=)

  4. windex, i know it sounds stupid but i tried it and it worked on mine

  5. I'd use 409.  Spray it, and you'll see the gunk disolving almost right away.  Rinse it with cool water.  If its still not clean, spray it again and wait a couple of minutes and rinse.  I hope this helps!  I find 409 works great on a lot of stuff.

  6. The best way is to spray with a strong all-purpose surface spray (pine o kleen 4 in 1 is best), or a bbq cleaner. Then rub with a non-abrasive nylon scourer. Let it stand a bit.

Take off most of the gunk with paper kitchen towels, then, using very hot water (that you can get your hands into, that is) and a micro-fibre cloth (Vileda is great) keep wringing and rinsing off, until all you can see is your nice shiny clean surface or cooktop.

Do the same with the glass.

    Good luck.
