I forgot and left chicken noodle soup on. It burnt really bad, I scraped off all the loose scrapable noodles but I have a charred black bottom that will take forever to pick off peices at a time to see the shiny silver bottom, which is fine under all the crud.. Its not even my pot so I don't think I should throw it away and buy a new one. Can I save it? I used dawn power dissolver on things way less severe than this in tthe past and loved it. Should I use that or something else. I hate the smell of that stuff.

  1. put some water in it & put it on the stove & let it simmer for an hour or so-- it will cook itself off the pan.you can add a bit of baking soda to the water if you have any on hand.  I have 3 sons & a hub who burn things often so I simmer pots often lol

  2. Try dish drop from amway.

  3. soak the heck out of it.

  4. I also have found the Dawn Power Resolver to work really well.  I'm with you, though, I'm not crazy about the way it smells (or any of the Dawn products), but it just might be your best bet.  You could also try filling the pot with water and dish soap and simmering it on the stove.  That might loosen up the crud enough for you to scrub it out.

  5. Try oven cleaner.

  6. try sos pads and scrub away. be sure to use hot water. putting the pad inside a old panty hose so it won't scratch the surface. or add baking soda to rag works too. hope this helps you.. good luck
