How to clean a dishwasher?

Ok..So we made this dinner one night it was velveeta,brocolli, and potatoes. and we accidentally let it set out over night and when we washed it the next day everything came clean. but now whenever we do a load of dishes they smell disgusting! is there any type of cleaner we can put into the dishwasher to make it not smell so bad?

Run an empty "light" load or "rinse" cycle with half the amount of soap and 2 cups of white vinegar to remove odors.

Just Add 1 1/2 cups off white vinegar and run the dishwasher,this will take the odor away and clean your dishwasher. This should be done every 6 months.
