  1. Step1

Verify that the cooking surface has cooled down before attempting to clean it. Monitor the “hot surface” light feature on your stove.

    Step2

Wipe and clean the glass top with hot soapy water or a mild, non-abrasive cleanser with a damp cloth or sponge as soon as possible once the cook top has cooled down.

    Step3

Clean the glass top cooking surface after every meal so food does not become baked on and stuck on the next time you cook. You’ll really regret cooking with a dirty stove.

    Step4

Soak heavy, sticky spills such as candy, jellies, syrup and sauces, as soon as possible. Hot water will help soften the spill.

    Step5

Use a scraper made specifically for glass top stoves to help lift and scrape away stubborn spills, being careful to not scratch the surface. Continue to clean the entire cooking surface using a mild, non abrasive cleaner and a damp cloth or sponge.

    Step6

Invest in cleansers and polishing creams made specifically for glass top stoves. Check your manufacturer’s suggested cleaning product. This bottle will become your best friend for cleaning white film, metal specks from the bottom of your pots, heavy soils marks, dark streaks and any other strange discolorations that may appear.

    Step7

Remember that your glass top stove is not a new countertop. Avoid placing objects on it,such as plastic bags, that may accidentally melt or adhere to the surface if it is still hot. Be sure to monitor the “hot surface” light before setting anything on it.

  3. You can buy the special cleaners for glass top stoves at any home improvement store, plus I believe they are at Wal-Mart, Target, etc. I wouldn't use anything but plain water or the special cleaner. Also, have one cloth (I suggest microfiber) that's used only to clean your stove with. This will help prevent getting chemicals on your stove that shouldn't go there. Clean up spills as soon as you can, as they may be permanent if left on too long. You may need to leave a wet rag on a stubborn stain for 10-15 minutes to soak it off. You can also use a razor blade very carefully.

Taking good care of your stove pays off. My mom has taken really good care of hers, and it's still beautiful and works well after many years. My sister hasn't kept hers clean and it looks terrible. Good luck!

  4. my husband bought some sort of cleaner from the store.  I think you can buy a cleaner for glass top stoves at almost any store with cleaning products.

I personally just use a wet dish cloth.  Make sure it has not been used in soapy water (not even your dish soap).  It is said to remove the protective coat.  Just plain water. If something is stuck to the surface I use my fingernail to scrape it off.  Or if I am cooking and the pot spills over, I will carefully use a papertowel to quickly wipe it up before it cooks on.  But be really careful not to let the towel start a fire!

  5. A non-toxic chemical free option is to make a thick paste of bi-carbonate soda. Then, using the sort of scourer pad that is designed for surfaces like teflon pans (so wont scratch), rub the paste in a circular motion onto the cooktop. May need repeat applications for stubborn marks. Then just wipe off with a clean cloth & water.

Works a treat, you don't have all the hassles of chemical cleaners & it costs next to nothing.

Just make sure the cook top is cool first :)

The same trick is also excellent for stainless steel sinks.
