I want to organize my junkie computer room to make my mom happy. It's all nick knacks that I don't think I can find anywhere else to put them in the room so I need to organize all this stuff somehow. I just need it to look very neat. In the room I have:

-a computer desk

-filling cabinet

-bookshelf

-and there's a closet.

How can i organize it?

Thanks!

  1. can you make some shelves?  do you have a old  dresser in the house or can afford to buy one that might fit in the closet

i would use some shelves to display  a few nick knacks   and  use the the filling cabinet for any papers you might have like bills an what not you want to file also you can use a draw for extra paper

in the closet with a dresser you can divide it and use it to store other things like pens markers ec. also its a great place if you have a draw or two to store some  tablecloths and what not.

also you can use some slide out bins in the closet.

  2. In the UK a junkie is a heroin addict. I thought you wanted to know how to clean up needles and stuff!! caught my attention!

  3. Computer rooms are notorious for gathering clutter and clutter of different shapes and sizes.  Really, this is kind a silly question but here goes:

    - Get some hanging folders and labels for your filing cabinet.  Got through all your manuals, papers, etc and get them organized into a simple filing system

    - Get all your books on the book shelf.  There may be some papers that also belong on the bookshelf, get a 3 hole punch and put them in a binder.  It will keep then secure and is neater

    - Buy some plastic bins of different sizes that will fit on your shelf/under desk, etc.  Make labels for each bin and then put wires in one, CD cases in another, etc.  Well labelled bins are very neat and a good way to keep you jumk organized.

    Good luck

  4. It helps to sort your knick knacks into three categories:

    - Sentimental - Take this bunch of knick knacks and see what is holding you to it.  Can you let it go?  Throw it away, donate it, or give it away if possible.  If it's not functional but you can't part with it, consider putting it in a special momento trunk and store it elsewhere.

    - Functional - Have you used it in the last year?  Great!  Keep it and organize it into the space that you have.  Bins or shelves/drawers that stack is the best.

    - Non-functional or non-sentimental - GET RID of it!  I find it easy to say, "Oh these speakers still work, this mouse still works..." but if you haven't used it in a year or more, just sell it or get rid of it, especially if you don't have the space for it.

It'll make your room feel more peaceful if there is not a lot of junk.  It will also help keep dust and trash from gathering too easily.  Your best weapon against clutter is a trashcan or donation box (and with a donation box, you can get a tax-deductible receipt and the good feeling of helping others!).

    God bless, and good luck!

  5. Junky is the word you're looking for :-)  (Doggone those antonyms!)

Knick-knacks are nothing more than dust-catchers, and tend to make a room look cluttered unless you have a particular "knack" for display.  Store some of them away in the closet.  Find themes within your collection, and change them out every now and then in a highlighted area of the bookshelf.  Organize all of your loose papers and books in the filing cabinets and bookshelves.
