I was wondering the best way to go about cleaning a scarf I bought at a vintage shop...I plan to use it as a headscarf, but the idea of lice and whatnot on something used makes me want to wash it first....is hand washing it effective enough?

  1. Handwash, tepid water with mild detergent & a bit of disinfectant.

Rinse thoroughly then soak in tepid fabric conditioner for 10 minutes.

Hand squeeze as much liquid out of it as you can.

Dry flat. Probably the bottom of the bath would be the best place overnight.

  2. I would either hand wash it using woolite or some other detergent for delicate fabrics, or take it to a dry cleaner.
