How to clean cat and dog urine out of carpet?

we have cats and a dog and left town for a bit with someone visiting once a day to care for them here, when i came back i noticed the urine smell from the carpet is really strong, any suggestions on cleaning urine out of the carpet? you cant see any spots but the smell is rather strong.

A steam vacuum is the key to fixing that. Pick up a can of pet urine deoderizer at any kind of convenience store and use a steam vacuum over it. The smell will be pulled out of the carpet completely.

Sound to me like the urine has soaked into the padding.  If so, you've got a bigger problem than the carpet.  You can try Nature's Miracle ot Simple Solution from the pet store.  If it's only in the carpet they'll work.  If it's gone into the padding, you're sunk.
