I have owned several Marlin .22's with a micro-groove barrels, and was wondering if anyone has found a really good and fast method to cleaning these barrels. They are so much harder to get clean because of the grooves.

  1. I clean them mine exactly the same way I clean all my other rifle barrels. Use a good solvent, the proper size bronze brush, cotton patches and a good cleaning rod.

  2. Wow...I dont think the last answer could be anymore un-educated.

As for cleaning Marlins, use Hoppes Semi Auto bore cleaner, use a rigid bore brush, and simply scrub til your patches come out clean.

    Tried and true. Works everytime.

  3. not much you can do about it as far as I know, just some cotton, gun grease, swipe it through the barrel using a stick of some sort, and should be good enough. Just increase the amount of cotton, and use a rigid stick to push it through.

  4. When you do get it clean use only copper clad bullets and that will eliminate the barrel leading.

  5. as far as clening a 22 barrel you dont need to clean a 22 barrel as often i clean mine every 500 rounds but just use hoppis number 9 use a 22 bore brush and scrub run patches until it comes out clean
