My son left his football shirt in his laundry basket, under a wet towel. Now there is a patch of black spots (mould) on his shirt.

Anyone know any good tips for cleaning mould from garments. (polyester) Thanks in advance.

  1. Rub detergent directly into the moldy spot and wash by itself in hot water. Then dry it completely and  immediately. Be sure to wash your hands after handling the mold, if the spores come in contact with your clothing and you handle a baby or are around anyone with breathing problems or allergies, it can be dangerous.

  2. 1st try just wiping it off, if that fails, put some 'spot' cleaner on, and wash in a cool wash.

  3. Fill your washer with the detergent and a cap full of bleach, use a warm water wash.DO NOT put the shirt in until the load has agitated a bit and then toss the shirt in.If you throw the color shirt in before the cycle has started, the bleach will stain the shirt. For certain this will remove the mold, but if the stain is still there, then use a little Shout gel on it.
