I just got a stainless steel dishwasher and I can't seem to make it look streak free. It has darker lines going down it that don't come off, I used orange spray, bleach, and a damp microfiber cloth and nothing worked. I thought stainless steel was so nice but it looks horrible and it is only 3 weeks old. The satins aren't grease it is just like water, I don't know. I regreat getting it now.

  1. We use a bit of baby oil to get our machines nice and shiny

  2. use a stainless steel cleaner

or a glass cleaner, if your using a glass cleaner only use windex, nothing else works

  3. My wife says that she often uses a cleanser called Barkeeper's friend. It is a powdered cleaner that works well on stainless steel and removes stains.

    Here is their link: http://barkeepersfriend.com/products.htm

  4. I do believe the Chinese are trying to drive us nuts!  Why do I believe this? because I bought a set of stainless steel cookware that was so beautiful, that is until I washed it.

I believe the quality of the stainless is just

    very poor.

The inside of my pots used to be sparkling

shiny.  Now from just using a light abrasion

green pad on the inside bottoms...the

Stainless has all worn off and there's some

dull, gray metal that I have no idea what it is.

It might be lead for all I know.

The only way to keep the outsides shiny

is a wet dishrag dipped in baking soda, then

rinsed in hot water and dried right away.

So if the stainless steel sheet metal on your dishwasher was made in China, no

    more comments needed.

  5. the bleach might have ruined it

because i clean my stainless steel dishwasher and fridge with windex only and it works really good

  6. Things You’ll Need:

A mild mixture of soap and water

Some furniture polish (the pre-moistened wipes work great)

A little bit of olive oil

Step1: Wash the affected area with a soapy solution to disinfect and remove any dirt.

Step2: Instead of buying those pricey foams and sprays to keep your appliances looking brand new, erase those smudges with furniture polish. The pre-moistened wipes are your best bet. Just wipe away fingerprints with a little bit of

Pledge. The surface usually stays clean for about a week.

Step3: After you've wiped down surfaces with the polish, try applying a little bit of olive oil with a clean cloth. This adds a nice sheen and actually prevents fingerprints from sticking to the surface.

  7. I use  white vinegar to clean our stainless steel appliances. It removes water stains and leaves a great streak-free shine. It helps keep our appliances like new. Plus it is natural and inexpensive. The vinegar smell dissipates as it dries.

  8. Do not use Ajax!  Anything abrasive will scratch the surface and make the problem worse, particularly if it's a shiny finish.  Bleach is also bad as it pits/corrodes stainless steel.  A lot of folks feel fine saying, "Just bleach it!" but chlorine or extreme acidity will damage it.

Here's what I do:  Using only soft cloth or non-scrub sponge wash with warm soapy water (mild dishwashing liquid,) dry it with a soft cloth, apply a polish formulated for stainless steel (if you can't find one, check with the manufacturer and see which brand they suggest) going with the steel's grain, then buff the surface using another dry cloth, again with the grain.

For me, it's not been a simple process.  I've heard of people having success with Windex, but it's not worked for me.  I don't know why.  Most other solutions are too oily or something.  The maker of my fridge, which is the worst culprit of all the SS appliances I own, suggests this stuff called Signature Polish.  It works great, but I can only get it online.  And it's like $25!

A good rule of thumb is to always start with the simplest solution before progressing to the heavy duty kinds.

  9. Try using vinegar or windex

  10. you can try scrubbing bubbles or 409 on it. the bleach tends to strip things. the orange oil is going to look splotchy. paper towel dry with original windex.
