There are some food stains complicated by heating that just won't come off. I've tried putting them through the dishwasher and it didn't touch them. I know oven cleaner would probably work, but that stuff is so nasty and has terrible fumes. What can you suggest? I read somewhere crystals of soda -- what is that? Baking soda?

  1. Soda crystals are often used in the laundry and if you touch them you will find they make your fingers feel soft.  I think it helps to break down grease.

You could try soaking your burners in a biological soap powder solution overnight.  I put my grill shelves in a large sink filled up with water and laundry soap powder and it made them really easy to clean.  Something to do with the biological bits in the powder I think.

    Good luck

  2. Try a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.  They're great at tackling tough stains - and no fumes or chemicals.

  3. Put ammonia on them and tie them in a trash bag overnight.  Scrub them in the morning.
