How to clean up a urine soaked bathroom?

This is a serious question.

How do I get rid of a smell from a bathroom with urine soaked walls and carpet? There are no windows in it to make matters worse.

Go to a discount store or pet store and get a cleaner that breaks down the enzymes in pet urine.  I would take it and start scrubbing the walls, then scrub the carpet, in all honesty it may be easier to take up the carpet, but if that isn't an option then I would start with scrubbing the cleaner into the carpet and if you are able to after you have used the cleaner I suggest you steam clean it, that will help with stains also.  Since you don't have a window you need to get a couple of fans and direct them on the floor to dry it out, keep in mind that the cleaner and the steam cleaning will probably make things humid and moist therefore the stink will get worse so you need to keep fans on it for a couple days until the carpet and the pad have had time to dry out.

Once you have done all the scrubbing I suggest you take a few oranges and slice them up and lay them in a bowl or sheet pan and put them on the floor for 24hrs. with the door shut.  The oranges help with absorbing odors and also smell good.

You can also try cleaning with apple cider vinegar, I used it on my tile floors when I had a daycare with little boys that had a bad aim.  It helped, but I have always heard the pet stuff works better.  Maybe you can try the pet stuff first and if that doesn't work try the apple cider vinegar, if you use it I would mix it half and half with warm water, just make sure you get the fans on it to dry it real good.

You may have to weekly sprinkle baking soda on the floors and allow to sit for 30 minutes and vacuum.  Humidity outside will also draw out odors from wood floors, so if it gets humid under your house you will smell it worse.

Good luck, sorry you have such a mess.  Sounds like some guys with bad aim need to enjoy the experience of cleaning their own mess, maybe if they had to do that they would try a little harder to aim better.

Soak the carpet in it and scrub the walls with it.
