  1. Always best to take a sample to a pool store for testing, Ace Hardware here, also will test.

    It could be the alkalinity that is off.

    We have great luck with a product called Yellow Out, (not Yellow Treat).

    Use it with calcium hypochlorite (shock) & it will work within a couple of hours.


  2. Shocking the pool once or twice may not kill everything and once the chlorine level lowers algae will begin to multiply again. You need to get your pool to shock level (at least 11ppm) and keep it there until that level holds overnight. You need to check your chlorine level at least three times a day (morning, early afternoon, and sundown) and add more chlorine if necessary to maintain a shock level. You need to leave the system running until the water clears and brush a couple times a day.

  3. Scrub it, and then put chlorine in it.
