  1. You the bladder with warm but NOT HOT water and a little bit of soap.  Same with the inside but no soap.  Then you put the pouch(backpack part) and soak it in warm water and soap for 10 min the for another 10 min. without soap to rinse the soap.  Let it dry on its own(hang it up).  Just dry the bladder with a rag.  Hope this helps!

  2. Water stagnates. Water in a Camelback sometimes stagnates or get a strange taste in your mouth. You need to get a Cleaning Kit from camelback this includes a long thin brush for your tube, a big brush for the bladder, a bag drier to hang and sanitizing tablets. Cleaning is simple and easy first separate the bladder from the bag, wash out using dish-washing soap scrubbing out the bladder, tube, mouthpiece, then rinse with clear water, finally drop in sanitizing tablet and fill with water. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes and rinse out again. Hang to dry. Hand wash out the bag and hang to dry. Cleanings should be done once a year and more often if you use sport drinks (Gatorade, Power aide, etc.) I hope this helps.

  3. When I clean mine I wash the bladder by hand with soft dish soap and then I let it air dry.  For the camelbak itself I actually just put it in the washing machine on delicate cycle with cold water and a little laundry detergent and then let it air dry as well.  It takes a couple days to dry out completely but it get's the job done and it doesn't hurt it.

  4. Its easy. Find a camel and then carefully wash its back. This is how you learn to wash a camelbak.

  5. Camelbak actually sells cleaning accessories for their products.

They sell a brush kit, which includes one for the bag and the tube, as well as tablets.

On their site there is a link for cleaning and maintenance as well.

  6. I usually let the water get as hot as i can and rinse it really really good with the wicked hot water. just use antibacterial hand or dish soap. i tiny bit, because if you use too much it is soooo hard to rinse out the bubbles and soapy taste. try to dry it out as well as you can and wash it right after each use and you should be good and wont need any harsh chemicals. if you let it sit for any amount of time though replace the bladder. bacteria thrives in water. hope that helps. ride on!

  7. wash the camelbak with warm soapy water. rinse it thoroughly. sanitize it with lemon juice or white vinegar, then rinse it again. the acidity of the vinegar or lemon juice will kill any bacteria. do not use bleach, it's toxic!

  8. Hot water will kill any bacteria in the camelbak itself, and you should deffenetly let it soak in hot water. I have three and use them all the time, with many different drinks, Like gatorade, and water.

Hot water will wash out any previous drink as well.

  9. A solution of bleach and water works really well.  try 10 parts water to one part bleach.  leave in for an hour then rinse three times with water....It worked for mine.  Unfortunately, disinfectants are harsh by nature.  it seems to be one of the few ways to kill the bugs....
