Question:

How to clean whitish residue inside a Crystal Decanter?

Hi! I bought a really beautiful crystal Decanter at a yard sale, it's beautiful, but has frosty looking residue at the bottom. It looks like maybe hard water deposits or ?? It has a slim neck, so I can't reach down in it.

Thanks!

  1. baking soda and vinegar - let it set - put rice in it - shake it up to clean out the residue

  2. I would put some dish soap in it and some marbles or something similar, rubber band some plastic wrap over the top and shake it. Oh and of course hot water.

The residue is probably from hard water sitting in there for a long period of time.

  3. White vinegar and salt work also.  Put the vinegar in and let it sit for awhile.  Then add the salt and shake.  Rinse well and you should be good to go!

  4. Use white vinegar,or baking soda and hot water. Let it sit for a few days.

  5. Put vinegar in it and let it sit for a while.

  6. Try using denture cleaner. I use it often in vases where there is residue that cannot be reached to clean. Just drop some tablets in and fill it with water. Leave it overnight and you will be surprised how good it will look. You may do it a second time if it isn't great the first time.
