How to clean window blinds?

The blinds are dusty and making my allergies horrible plus sneezing.

  1. The first answer is a good one, but if you have a patio or driveway you can do the same thing a lot faster with a sponge mop and water hose. Hang them on a clothes line, fence, or rig something up to hang them and give them one good final rinse and let them dry.


  2. Put them in the tub with hot water and use a degreasing soap on them...dish detergent works great :)

  3. fill the bathtub with warm soapy water. take the blinds down and wash them in the tub. hang outside, rinse with a hose and let them dry. works really great.

  4. I like the answer from sealife8, but I also recommend that you add a mild detergent and you may need to scrub them a little with a sponge or old rag, sometimes once dust becomes wet you have to wipe it off, but this will make a huge difference.  Then you need to draw them up, put them into a trash bag (so you don't drip on the floor) and carry them outside and hang them on something or lay them out flat so each slat is showing and start rinsing with a hose or sprayer nozzle.  Allow to dry and then hang them back up.
