How to clean wood floors?

ok we are redoing a apartment. and some people moved out of it .... well the frontroom has wood floors (painted) and it looks like they have never cleaned it .... the floor is filthy has all this black junk on it ... wich looks like they spild stuff and instead of cleaning it up they just left it and walked throw it wich atracts alot of dirt ..... anyway what is the fastest easiest way to get the floor clean ........ home remedies are welcome to ......

use a littlte amoinia   it is a good all around cleaner for touhg dirt   .. then shine  them back with some good wax
