  1. Kyle is giving you good advice.  You want to follow someone into the jump to Gage the speed they are going so you can carry the same speed into your take off.  It is definitely the safest way to give a new jump a try.  Don't ever try and take a jump in racing that you have not nailed in practice as that is when things usually go wrong.

That is the rule of thumb that most supercross riders go by as often they only get one practice to get the jumps down and in many cases the track is newly made so that it is not something they could have tried before.

  2. You need to start on table tops if you haven't already. They are much more forgiving. You need to perfect the art of panic revving and brake tapping before trying large double jumps. Once you feel you are ready just pace someone on a similar sized bike over the double. Just remember, over jumping is always better than coming up short so hit it plenty hard the first time.

  3. it all depends on the size of the jump and your bike size. Where I race on a CRF 150 I can clear a 50-65 foot double in 3rd and 4th gear. You just gotta get the feel for the power in your bike and go for it. Just dont try to hit it in a lower gear cuz then ur either gonna come up short and not enough tire rotation and you'll land on your front tire

  4. It depends of how fast your bike can go and how far apart the jumps are.

i would go with going fast and not be afraid.

  5. like he said it all depends on your bike size

if you race a 125 2stroke or bigger(250f,2502stroke,450f) basically any logical double is achivable. what i did when i was younger and still do, when i come to a jump im not sure of i look for a rider that is clearing the jump. follow him on the track when you come to the next jump just remain the same speed as him ( not loosing or gaining on him) and that should almost garentee that you will clear it. when you choose someone to follow make sure they are a all around good rider, not some newbie that is getting lucky.

    hope this helps
