  1. Although my rabbit loves swimming and getting his nails cut, an odd rabbit he is. haha

With cutting his nails though I do take a hand towel and wrap him in it exposing his paws and then cut his nails. If I can do it, you can. I have servere tremors with my handing constantly moving and I can cut my rabbit's nails.

  2. Maybe you should first have someone who knows how to deal with this first. Watch and learn. Until then, let me give you some tips.

You might wanna wrap a towel or blanket or old shirt around your rabbit to calm it down a little. Then seat the bunny in your lap so you both are comfy. Now you want to take one of his paws or hind legs (Start with whichever you want) and look at each nail. You'll see that theres a pink area and growing out of that it the actual nail. Like in us. Take your nail clipper and cut the white part of the nail and make sure theres still a little left near thepink area. If you cut too deep, the nail will bleed. If it does, you should put flour on it to stop the bleeding. Do this with each nail but make sure your rabbit doesnt pop outta your arms due to fright. Just pet him after each nail or something.

    Good luck

  3. The trick is to keep a firm grip. No matter how you slice it, you're going to scare the c**p out of him. The best way in this situation is really to keep a firm grip. Hold him under your arm and hold the paw you will be trimming with the hand of the same arm you're holding him with. Position your hand under the paw and your thumb over. Press down firmly (but don't squeeze). This spreads the claws so you get a more accurate aim. Don't trim too close or you'll cut the quick. That's the best I can tell you. That, and invest in a scratching post for him.

  4. PUT A FEW BRICKS IN HIS/HER CAGE TO WHERE SHE CAN WALK ON THEM THAT WILL FILE THEM DOWN! OR BRING HER/HIM ON A WALK ON THE CONCRETE OR PLAY WITH EM ON THE CONCRETE ASWELL! THAT IS THE SAFEST WAY AND UR RABBIT WONT KNOW JUST WILL THIN UR PLAYIN WITH HER!

  5. I would strongly advise you to go to a vet and have this done professionally. Unless you are trained to do this, it's going to very difficult and awkward, and you don't want to risk hurting your rabbit. Also, your rabbit may remember this and act out aggressively towards you. If you are determined to do this yourself, make sure you have a very strong grip on your rabbit so that he can't move or wriggle free. Then, much as you'd clip your own nails, clip the rabbits. It all sounds simple, but I think when you go to do it, you'll realise this is a big challenge. Good luck.

  6. I wouldn't risk doing it yourself. If a rabbit is spooked bad enough, they'll kick so hard that they break their own backs. In order to keep them from kicking you're gonna need both your arm/hands. You'll have nobody to clip their nails if your hands are tied up with holding the rabbit. I'd suggest you take it to your vet. It should only cost around $7-$8 (I only pay $7 for my bunny to have a nail trim). It's worth the money to not have your rabbit hurt itself or you for that matter.
