How to combine two home phone lines into one?

Where I live a tenant before had two seperate telephone line put in. Does anyone know how I can make them into one again? Without calling in a expensive ATT person or other professional.

  1. Do you live in a house or apartment? If it's a house then you can just find the nid or dmarc (box where the outside and inside lines meet) Open it up with (usually) a screwdriver. Inside the box will be a couple of plugs that look like regular phone jacks. Get a phone jack splitter.. Plug the outside line into the single end of the splitter and the 2 inside lines into the 2 end side of the splitter.... If an apartment, it's alot harder to figure out which line/s is yours.... Also in old houses the wires may be hardwired and not have little phone jacks inside.. Then you may as well call the phone company....
