I don't want actual ideas. I just have a problem with coming up with ideas. And I need something more complex then what you could get off one of those science fair idea websites. It has to be pretty original and somewhat difficult. And I want to come up with something that would take me past my individual high school. (this is the intel science fair)

  1. If you're looking for how to get ideas rather than ideas themselves, and not science fair idea web sites, I'd suggest talking with scientists and engineers, and asking them for some science fair suggestions.  They could probably give you some high-level ideas.

If you don't know any scientists or engineers directly, then network with people you know--your parents, teachers, friends from church, etc., and ask if they know someone.  Keep at it and eventually you'll find some people who do science or engineering for a living.  Then, they can direct you to others in their field and you'll probably have a lot of people you can consult with.

Another idea is to contact a local university or college and ask to talk to science professors.  They should be glad to help, and I believe it's part of State university professors' job descriptions to talk to the public.  They could either give you science fair ideas or direct you to people who could.

One important thing is, keep at it.  If you hit a roadblock, try another route until you reach your goal.
