How to compress digital photos memory from 678 mb to minimum size so that it can be mailed to friends?

I have digital photos which is of 678 mb size. I want to compress it and send it by mail to my friends

That would be impossible. Text can be highly compressed but sound and pictures are pretty much compressed already. You will not even compress it more than 10%. Something that size should be put on a CD and mailed.

If you can break it down into 100 MB chunks you can use a site such as Rapidshare to send it. You upload it and the other person downloads it.

is the 678mbs one photo or several photos that you want to send in one email???  If it's several photos, email them seperately. If it's only one photo (that's HUGE) you'll need to resize it before emailing.

If you have several photos, you could always put them up on a site like Flickr & then send the link to your friends.
