    Some principles:

    In PRIVATE

    Openly deal with the behaviours exhibited

    Segregate behaviour from person

    Start with what is good

    Finish with what is good

    Define performance standards required where performance is unsatisfactory

    Analyse causes (not symptoms) and put a plan in place to address them, include TIMEFRAMES

    DOCUMENT the outcomes and agree to review periods

    Carry out the reviews and DOCUMENT those

    Deal with every performance issue, where there are too many to deal with them all, use the initial meeting to outline the issues, then set a timetable to deal with the totallity.... alternatively, cut your losses.

    Prior planning .... have the list of behaviours, dates times and places ready
