  1. Depending the age of your TV, the only decent picture quality I have found comes from "the best" DVI to HDMI. I have a VGA connection but consider the HDMI input much better. I suspect you will be less than impressed if you do get it working. I've been connecting computers to TVs for the last fifteen years and am barely impressed with my latest setup - PC using 8600 GS card HDMI straight through to 60 inch LCOS JVC. It's usable but I'll be waiting for the next generation to actually do seamless connectivity.

Why do you not want to use your S-Video? You seriously won't do much better unless you use HDMI or component video.

  2. Use VGA.

  3. Easiest way is to connect the yellow to yellow, red to red, white to white. This will give you a standard definition picture.

If you have red/green/blue connectors on your TV called "component video" you can get a much better quality picture by using an adaptor inbetween the VGA on your computer and the red/green/blue on the TV.
