The wireless LAN button is not even switching 'on' in ubuntu. Do we have to type any commands. Or is it a problem with the modem configuration?Dial-up internet thru landphone is working fine.

  3. I think it could be the what hardware (or chip set) that is used for the wireless card. Trying to get a wireless connection with Ubuntu is tricky. It just doesn't work for the internal wireless for my laptop. I found success by using a PCMCIA  insert Zyxcel wireless adapter.  Ubuntu automatically found it, configured it and all I had to do is configure my wireless network to connect to it.
