How to connect 4.1 Speakers (Creative Inspire M4500 4.1) to an LCD TV?

Hi,

I've seen similar questions but they were mostly related to 2 speaker systems (with no surround anyway) or 5.1 systems (which seemed to be impossible to connect), but my specific case is with a 4.1 system (Creative Inspire M4500 4.1) with a subwoofer and 4 speakers.

Now, I have the 2 mini jacks (ones used to connect to a laptop or soundcard) having green and black colors obviously being for the front and rear speakers (although I don't know which is which). The LCD TV has two RCA outputs left and right. I've actually went out and bought a couple of adapters female mini jack to L/R RCA, but since I can only connect one RCA line from each adapter, I could only get 2 speakers to work.

There must be some way to get 4 channels of sound out of the TV or home theaters wouldn't work, but with the L/R RCA audio output on the TV how is that possible?

  1. Try hooking up the right audio out of your tv to the front input on your subwoofer and hook up the left audio out of your tv to the rear input on you subwoofer and then hook all the satilite speakers up as you would for the steareo or sound card hookup instructions.  If this doesn't work, you will probably need to have a "Home Theater Receiver" between your tv and the speakers to get correct surround sound.  I'm afraid, out of you tv your only going to get "stereo" sound.
